What you can buy
Everything is a fixed price. The figures below are our fee, and only our fee. The Office of the Public Guardian charges its own registration fee on top of that, which you pay to them, not to us — we have set it out clearly against each option so nothing takes you by surprise.
One LPA

Not included: the Office of the Public Guardian charges £92 to register your LPA. That is a government fee, paid to them. We do not collect it and we do not add it to our bill.
Both LPAs
Property & financial affairs and health & welfare.
Not included: the Office of the Public Guardian charges £92 to register each LPA, so £184 for two. That is a government fee, paid to them. We do not collect it and we do not add it to our bill.
£100 better off. Two LPAs bought separately would be £300, and a Will another £50.
Just a Will
You do not need an LPA to make a will with us.
Nothing else to pay. Wills are not registered with anyone, so there is no government fee afterwards.

What the two LPAs actually cover
Property & financial affairs
Banking, bills, pensions, benefits and property. You choose whether your attorneys can act as soon as it is registered, or only if you lose the capacity to decide for yourself.
Health & welfare
Where you live, your day-to-day care and medical treatment. Your attorneys can only ever use this one if you have lost the capacity to decide for yourself.
They cover different decisions, which is why most people put both in place.
About that £92
The £92 is a government fee. It is charged by the Office of the Public Guardian to register your LPA, and it is paid to them, not to us. We do not take a penny of it, and we could not reduce it even if we wanted to.
It is £92 for each LPA, so £92 for one and £184 for both. If you are on a low income or certain benefits you may qualify for a reduction or exemption — tell us and we will point you to it.
Your Will is free when you take both LPAs
Our fee for a simple Will is £50. Put both types of LPA in place and we waive it. Three steps:
- Complete and pay for both LPAs — £250.
- We email you a code, as soon as your payment goes through.
- Start your Will, and enter the code at the payment step. The £50 becomes nothing.
Do your LPAs first. The code is yours alone and can be used once. It cannot be applied to a Will you have already paid for. Full details are in clause 7 of our terms.
What our fee includes
- We take your instructions through plain-English questions — no legal forms to decipher.
- We prepare the official documents from your answers.
- Every document is personally checked by Benjamin Gilbert before it reaches you.
- You get clear written instructions on signing and witnessing.
- You post the signed forms back and we check them for anything that looks wrong.
- For LPAs, we submit the registration to the Office of the Public Guardian and deal with them on your behalf.
- We store your original signed documents free of charge.
Why pay us, when you can do it yourself for free?
It is a fair question, and worth answering honestly. You can make an LPA yourself on GOV.UK without paying anyone a fee. You would still pay the £92 to register it. If you are confident with the forms, that route is open to you and we would not pretend otherwise.
What you are paying us for is that nobody is checking your work on that route. The commonest problems — a missing signature, dates in the wrong order, a continuation sheet left unsigned — are only discovered when the application comes back weeks later, and you start again. Our fee covers preparing the documents properly, having a person read them line by line before you sign, and handling the registration with the OPG so you are not chasing it yourself.
If that is worth £150 to you, we are here. If it is not, that is a perfectly sensible decision too.

- One optional extra, shown before you pay: printing and postage at £25 a document if you would rather not print at home.
